Support is about YOU. What you need, what feels right and what would make things easier in the moment. That’s why I do this work. To offer support that is practical and real. Below you’ll find more about the ways I can be there for you.
Before birth, we’ll meet for two prenatal visits (about 2–3 hours each). These visits give us time to get to know each other and talk through what you're hoping for, what you're nervous about and what support might look like for you, We might talk about things like:
-Your birth preferences
comfort measures and coping during labor
- Common interventions and what they mean
- Involving companions
- Creating a birth plan (if that’s something you want)
- What the early postpartum period can look like
There’s plenty of time for questions or just talking through things that are on your mind.
Starting at 38 weeks, I’m on call for you 24/7 until birth. If you’re unsure whether labor is starting, want to talk through early labor or just need reassurance, you can reach out anytime. Once active labor begins and you’d like me there, I join you and provide continuous support until after birth. That support can look different depending on what you need in the moment, but often includes things like:
- Encouragement and reassurance
- Helping you find comfortable labor positions
- Massage, counterpressure and other comfort measures
- Breathing and grounding techniques
- Helping you understand what’s happening during labor
- Supporting companions so they can stay involved too
After birth, I stay for about 2–3 hours to help with that immediate transition. This can include:
- Supporting skin-to-skin time
- Helping with the first feed if you’d like
- Making sure you’re comfortable
- Helping things feel a little calmer while everyone settles in
After you're home and settling in, we’ll have one postpartum visit. This visit is a chance to check in on how you're doing, talk through your birth experience if you want to, answer any newborn questions, and offer support or resources if needed.
Postpartum is full-time work and it can feel overwhelming, especially in those first weeks. I support you in taking care of yourself and baby(s) while also empowering you to find your own rhythm. This can include:
- Feeding support: breast/chest feeding guidance, pumping assistance, bottle-feeding help or a combination. I can answer questions, troubleshoot challenges and provide encouragement.
- Diapering & soothing: helping with diaper changes, comforting techniques and sleep hygiene.
- Hands-on guidance: showing you practical newborn care skills in a supportive way, to help build confidence.
- Supporting baby’s routines: helping you figure out what works for feeding, sleeping and comforting, tailored to your family’s needs.
The postpartum period is a major life transition. Your body is healing, your hormones are shifting and your emotions may feel intense or unpredictable. I’m here to support both your mental and physical wellbeing. This can include:
- Emotional support: listening without judgment, holding space for whatever you’re feeling and helping you process big emotions.
- Post-birth recovery support: guidance on rest, gentle movement and self-care as your body heals.
- Parenting reassurance: helping you feel confident in your choices and your instincts with your baby.
- Practical guidance: answering questions about newborn care, sleep, feeding or any other concerns you have.
Even small chores can feel huge in the postpartum period. I help lighten the load so you can focus on rest, recovery and bonding. This can include:
- Light household tasks: laundry, tidying the nursery, cleaning bottles or pump parts and meal prep.
- Organizing baby items: making sure feeding and diapering supplies are accessible and ready.
- Providing resources & referrals: connecting you with trusted lactation consultants, postpartum mental health supports or other community resources.
- Creating calm: helping your space feel organized and manageable so you can breathe a little easier.
Before procedure, we’ll connect for up to one hour (virtually or by phone) to talk through your options and what to expect. This time is yours to:
- Ask questions about the procedure and recovery
- Discuss your personal goals, fears and preferences
- Explore emotional concerns and coping strategies
- Access accurate information and resources
Some people want detailed guidance, others just need reassurance. Either approach is completely valid. My goal is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and prepared to make the choices that are right for you.
If the clinic allows, I can be present during your procedure to provide emotional and physical support. This can include:
- Quiet reassurance and grounding presence
- Help with breathing, relaxation or comfort techniques
- Emotional support if feelings come up before, during or immediately after
- Supporting companions
My presence is entirely focused on helping you feel safe and supported. Please note that this service does not include transportation to or from the appointment.
Support continues after your procedure to help you recover physically and emotionally. This includes:
- Short-term follow-up (3 days post-procedure): available by phone, text or email for questions, guidance or emotional support within reasonable hours
- Day 3 check-in: a one-hour follow-up (virtual, phone or in person) to talk about your emotional and physical recovery, answer questions and provide resources if needed
- Resources and referrals: connecting you with trusted support for emotional care, physical recovery or community services if you want additional help
